Key Responsibilities for Earthworks Foreman Jobs in Lumwana

• Supervise daily earthworks tasks such as site clearing, bulk excavation, cut-to-fill operations, embankment construction, trenching, backfilling, road formation, and drainage works.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications, method statements, and work instructions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Plan and allocate labour, equipment, and resources efficiently to meet project targets.
• Coordinate excavation, hauling, spreading, watering, grading, and compaction activities to achieve required lines, levels, grades, slopes, and tolerances.
• Monitor production rates, identify site constraints, and implement solutions to maintain schedule adherence.
• Manage plant and equipment usage, including excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, rollers, water bowsers, and dump trucks.
• Conduct daily inspections of machinery with operators, report defects, and liaise with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
• Ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment, monitor fuel consumption, and reduce unnecessary idling.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Diploma or Certificate in Civil Engineering, Construction, Earthworks, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years’ practical experience in earthworks, civil construction, mining, or infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record supervising large earthmoving operations and construction crews.
• Strong technical knowledge of excavation, cut-and-fill, embankments, trenching, road formation, drainage, compaction, and material handling.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and method statements.
• Experience coordinating heavy earthmoving equipment and managing daily operations.
• Excellent planning, leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Sound understanding of site safety, quality control, and environmental standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict project deadlines.
