About Curtain Factory and the Role

As a Driver & Installation Assistant, you will ensure the safe, timely, and professional transportation of curtains, blinds, equipment, and staff between the factory, client sites, and supplier locations. This role is essential in maintaining smooth delivery logistics and supporting the installations team directly, guaranteeing all materials arrive damage-free and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities for Driver and Installation Assistant Jobs in Lusaka

• Safely transport curtains, blinds, installation tools, and materials between Curtain Factory, suppliers, and client premises.
• Deliver completed orders punctually, presenting the company professionally upon arrival.
• Collect supplies as directed by the Operations Manager and plan efficient daily routes to reduce travel time and fuel consumption.
• Assist installation teams with offloading and carrying materials at client sites when necessary.
• Transport staff members to and from installation locations according to schedule.
• Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections, including tyres, oil, fuel, lights, and brakes; report any issues immediately.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure secure loading of all products and equipment.
• Update trip logs and submit fuel receipts promptly to administration.
• Maintain professional and courteous client interactions, protecting client property and reporting any concerns to management.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Valid Zambian Class C driver’s licence or higher is mandatory.
• Clean driving record with no major traffic offences in the last three years.
• Minimum of 10 years’ professional driving experience in commercial or delivery contexts.
• Experience operating light commercial vehicles such as panel vans.
• Good knowledge of Lusaka’s road network and surrounding areas.
• Zambia School Certificate (Grade 12) preferred but not essential.

Skills and Personal Attributes

• Safe, confident, and defensive driving skills.
• Ability to perform basic vehicle inspections and identify potential faults.
• Strong time management to handle multiple deliveries daily.
• Basic literacy and numeracy for accurate logbook and receipt management.
• Effective communication skills to confirm delivery details with clients.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor representing the company at all times.
• Honest, trustworthy, and calm under pressure, with keen attention to detail.

Working Conditions and Expectations

• Significant time spent driving and on the road daily.
• Physical activity involved, including loading and offloading materials.
• May require early starts to align with installation schedules.
• Must carry a valid Zambian driver’s licence at all times while driving.
• Any changes to driving record or traffic offences must be reported immediately to HR.
