About the Role – K9 Handler at Dogtech Security

As a K9 Handler with Dogtech Security Services Ltd, you will be responsible for managing and deploying trained security dogs to safeguard client properties. You will maintain exceptional standards of animal welfare while executing security operations professionally and effectively. Your duties will encompass both the care and operational deployment of security dogs across our kennel base and client sites throughout Zambia.

Key Responsibilities of Dog Handler Jobs in Lusaka

  • Handle and work with assigned security dogs during daily operational duties.
  • Conduct daily obedience, control, and maintenance training with your assigned K9.
  • Patrol client premises in line with company Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Detect and report any suspicious activity, security breaches, or incidents promptly.
  • Maintain full control of the K9 at all times to ensure safety and effectiveness.
  • Ensure the health, welfare, feeding, grooming, and cleanliness of your assigned dog.
  • Clean and maintain kennels, equipment, vehicles, and all issued gear.
  • Complete all required patrol, occurrence, and K9 activity reports accurately.
  • Participate in regular K9 training sessions, assessments, and refresher courses.
  • Comply with all Dogtech policies and client-specific requirements.
  • Uphold high standards of discipline, integrity, and customer service.
  • Perform additional lawful duties as assigned by management.

Candidate Requirements and Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Age between 20 and 40 years.
  • Physically fit and medically capable of working long shifts.
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Strong discipline and reliability.
  • Good English communication and report-writing skills.
  • Willingness to work day or night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Comfortable handling aggressive working dogs and able to remain calm under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Security Guard.
  • Security training certificate (advantageous).
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience in Military, Police, Correctional Services, or Wildlife Authority roles is a plus.
