Coalition Health Zambia (CHZ) invites applications for two full-time District (Zone) Coordinator positions based in Copperbelt Province. About Coalition Health Zambia and the Role

Established in 2019, Coalition Health Zambia is a respected non-governmental organization dedicated to strengthening health systems and improving public health outcomes across Zambia. In partnership with CIDRZ through the CHEP project, CHZ is implementing a six-month initiative targeting six districts in Copperbelt Province. The project aims to enhance informed decision-making and uptake of Lenacapavir (LEN) as part of Zambia’s comprehensive HIV prevention strategy.

Reporting to the SBC Technical Lead, the District (Zone) Coordinator will oversee subnational program implementation, coordination, and supervision within assigned districts. This role acts as the vital link between national technical leadership and community-level activities, collaborating closely with the Ministry of Health (MoH), National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC), and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities for District Coordinator Jobs in Copperbelt Province

  • Coordinate district-level program activities, including Social Behaviour Change interventions to increase PrEP uptake, in partnership with MoH and NAC.
  • Serve as the main liaison between communities, District Health Offices (DHOs), NAC, and CHEP representatives.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and mentorship of community-based volunteers (CBVs) alongside health facility in-charges.
  • Participate in reviewing, pre-testing, and implementing SBC interventions ensuring adherence to program design.
  • Oversee distribution and usage monitoring of SBC materials.
  • Conduct regular site visits to evaluate progress, troubleshoot challenges, and support adaptive solutions.
  • Collaborate with district stakeholders to plan community engagement events and stakeholder meetings promoting HIV prevention services including LEN.
  • Support data collection, validation, and timely submission of district-level reports.
  • Assist with rapid LEN PrEP needs assessments with the M&E Coordinator.
  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories from implementation.
  • Facilitate engagement with local health facilities and community leaders for demand creation and mobilization.

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS programming, PrEP (especially Lenacapavir), and community-led demand creation strategies.
  • Data Management: Proficient in data collection, validation, analysis, and visualization using tools like Excel, DHIS2, or similar M&E platforms.
  • Program Coordination: Proven ability to manage multi-stakeholder activities ensuring timely and quality implementation.
  • Capacity Building: Experience training and mentoring community volunteers and frontline workers.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication and relationship management skills with government bodies, partners, and community leaders.
  • Community Mobilization & SBC: Skilled in designing and implementing effective Social and Behaviour Change strategies.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify challenges and adapt strategies in dynamic field environments.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Strong report writing skills to produce timely, high-quality documentation and success stories.
  • Organizational Skills: Effective time management and ability to work independently under minimal supervision.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, or related disciplines; postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Monitoring & Evaluation or program implementation within health or development sectors.
  • Experience in HIV/AIDS, SRHR, or PrEP programming is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record working with community-based programs and decentralized teams.
  • Familiarity with Zambia’s health system, particularly district coordination structures such as DHOs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data platforms like DHIS2.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver training and mentorship for community cadres.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within assigned districts and work independently in remote settings.
  • Strong ethical standards with commitment to confidentiality and respect for communities.
