Role Overview: Dispatcher Safety Jobs in Kalumbila
The Dispatcher, Safety will play a crucial role in monitoring safety alerts across all mine equipment using advanced systems. Acting as the primary communication link between operations and maintenance teams, this role ensures safety dispatching is effectively coordinated to maintain a secure work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor fatigue events for the rigid dump truck fleet and take appropriate actions based on severity.
- Identify and report sensor or field of view exceptions to technicians, ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
- Support safe shift operations by broadcasting hourly safety messages and monitoring weather, lightning, blasting, and road conditions.
- Oversee speed compliance for light and medium vehicles within the mining site.
- Assist maintenance dispatchers by alerting equipment exceptions through MineCare systems.
- Coordinate emergency incidents and accidents with Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and escalate to mining management as needed.
- Track and report pantograph faults and maintain records of reported and unresolved machine issues.
- Conduct live monitoring using DSS, Geotab, Tyre Sense, and 360 systems to ensure real-time safety oversight.
- Communicate lightning alerts across appropriate channels promptly.
- Enter pre-start equipment checks, documenting defects and faults accurately.
- Monitor radar alerts and provide relevant information to Geotechnical personnel.
- Review safety data for equipment and personnel to maintain data integrity and accuracy in collaboration with the dispatch team.
- Support maintenance dispatch responsibilities and ensure timely data updates.
- Participate in review meetings as requested by supervisors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Required Competencies and Attributes
- Strong understanding of mine dispatch systems and relevant software applications.
- Knowledge of mining best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Proficiency in computer-assisted communication and dispatch equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and local languages.
- Proven commitment to personal safety and housekeeping standards.
- Attention to detail with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as assigned.
- Ability to multitask and demonstrate personal accountability.
- Strong listening skills and ability to foster positive team relationships.

Qualifications and Experience
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Minimum Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Certification of competence to operate mining dispatch systems.
- At least two years of practical experience in an open pit mining environment.
- Prior experience with dispatch systems is advantageous.
- All qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
