Save the Children International is seeking 15 dedicated Data Collectors for an important baseline study in Chongwe and Rufunsa districts, Zambia. These data collector jobs in Chongwe Rufunsa offer a unique opportunity to contribute to the Child Sensitive Social Protection – 3.0 Project (2026-2029), which aims to improve child wellbeing through rigorous monitoring and evaluation of key outcome and output indicators.

About Save the Children and the Role

In Zambia, we focus on Education, Health & Nutrition, Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Child Poverty, and Humanitarian response. We invite qualified individuals to join us temporarily as Data Collectors to support a two-week baseline data collection exercise.

Key Responsibilities for Data Collector Jobs in Chongwe Rufunsa

  • Collect baseline data from designated Child Welfare Action Committee (CWAC) areas in Chongwe and Rufunsa using established data collection tools.
  • Administer child questionnaires, including the International Social and Emotional Learning Assessment (ISELA) tool, caregiver questionnaires, and demographic surveys featuring Washington Group Questions (WGQs).
  • Gather information on caregiver practices, nutrition, and education indicators such as enrollment, transition, and dropout rates.
  • Utilize Kobo Toolbox for digital data collection and ensure accurate data entry.
  • Conduct thorough data cleaning of collected baseline data to maintain quality and reliability.
  • Submit all original study instruments, recorded field data, and Excel datasets to Save the Children at the conclusion of the study.

Qualifications and Desired Skills

  • Minimum Grade 12 certificate.
  • Fluent reading and speaking skills in English, with strong literacy and understanding of local languages spoken in Chongwe and Rufunsa, including Nyanja, Lenje, and Soli.
  • Residency in Chongwe, Rufunsa, or nearby areas is essential.
  • Proficiency in using a smartphone for data collection purposes.
  • Previous experience in data collection is required; knowledge of Kobo Toolbox is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining organization and patience.

Engagement Period: Two (2) weeks

Child Safeguarding Level: Level 3 – The role involves regular contact with children or young people, requiring adherence to strict child protection policies.
