Position Overview: Customs/Fleet Clearance Supervisor

As a Customs/Fleet Clearance Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing the customs clearance process. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure smooth communication and compliance for all fleet shipments crossing local and regional borders. This full-time position is based in Ndola and reports to the Flat & Acid Fleet Department.

Key Responsibilities for Customs Fleet Clearance Supervisor Jobs in Ndola

  • Prepare and submit all necessary import and export documentation for truck consignments, ensuring compliance with local and cross-border regulations.
  • Verify accuracy of shipment documents before transfer to clearing agents.
  • Coordinate payments for customs clearing fees, including taxes and import duties.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with customs clearing agents and authorities such as ZRA and ZEMA.
  • Provide daily status reports to operations teams and clearing agents to minimize delays during border clearance.
  • Engage with truck drivers to ensure adherence to customs and border crossing regulations.
  • Promptly address customs-related inquiries and resolve issues.
  • Maintain detailed records of fleet movements from ports to warehouses and border crossings, including all relevant payments.
  • Develop strategies to improve clearance timelines and reduce cross-border clearance costs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Diploma in Transport and Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related discipline.
  • Resident of Ndola or the Copperbelt region.
  • At least two years’ experience in customs clearing and forwarding, with strong knowledge of transport and logistics involving flatbed trucks, acid trucks, and fuel tanker trucks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of local and regional import/export clearance procedures, regulations, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with import/export duty structures and trade agreements between Zambia and neighboring countries.
  • Proficiency in the ZRA ASYCUDA System.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with clearing agents and local authorities.
