Position Overview: Crop Production Manager Jobs in Mpongwe

The Crop Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of crop production, from land preparation through to harvesting. This includes efficient resource management, monitoring crop performance, supervising farm staff, and ensuring the implementation of sustainable and cost-effective agricultural practices. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and collaborate closely with management and farm employees to optimize productivity and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage daily crop production activities and capital expenditures.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports covering crop yields, inputs, farm activities, and operational performance.
• Develop and monitor crop production budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Create seasonal crop production plans in consultation with the CEO and management team.
• Maintain comprehensive records of farm inputs, machinery usage, production costs, and yields.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and agricultural regulations.
• Lead, supervise, and motivate farm employees, allocating duties and evaluating performance.
• Train staff on best practices for crop production and safe handling of equipment and inputs.
• Identify and resolve production challenges, fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Oversee land preparation, planting, crop maintenance, harvesting, and post-harvest processes.
• Implement pest, disease, weed, and nutrient management strategies.
• Manage pasture establishment, maintenance, utilization, and improvement with sustainable methods.
• Monitor weather, soil, and crop conditions to make informed production recommendations.
• Continuously seek innovative and cost-effective methods to enhance crop and pasture productivity.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of three years’ relevant experience with a proven track record in crop production management.
• Certificate, Diploma, or higher qualification in Agriculture, Crop Production, Agronomy, or related fields.
• Strong leadership and personnel management capabilities.
• In-depth knowledge of crop production, farm management, and pasture management.
• Expertise in sustainable agricultural practices and resource optimization.
• Proficient in planning, budgeting, reporting, and problem-solving.
• Ability to supervise and motivate farm employees effectively.
• Capacity to work efficiently under pressure in a farm environment.
