We are looking for a skilled and motivated Crop Farm Supervisor to lead and optimize our commercial row cropping operations based in Luanshya, Copperbelt Province.

Position Overview: Crop Farm Supervisor

The Crop Farm Supervisor will be responsible for the comprehensive management of row cropping activities, including maize, soya beans, and wheat. This role demands hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and operational oversight to ensure optimal productivity and profitability on our commercial-scale farm.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and monitor all row cropping operations to meet production targets.
• Manage and lead the cropping team, including operators and seasonal workers, fostering a motivated and efficient workforce.
• Operate and maintain center pivot irrigation systems to maximize water efficiency.
• Ensure proper use, servicing, and troubleshooting of farm machinery such as tractors, planters, sprayers, and combine harvesters.
• Provide mechanical support and technical guidance for agricultural equipment, particularly John Deere machinery.
• Assist with budgeting, input planning, and cost control to enhance farm profitability.
• Oversee land preparation, planting, spraying, fertilization, harvesting, and storage logistics.
• Maintain accurate agronomic records and submit timely reports.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and labor regulations.
• Conduct field scouting, yield tracking, and soil health monitoring.
• Support the expansion of irrigation from 164 hectares to 650 hectares, including projects such as dam construction, bush clearing, pivot installation, and land drainage.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or diploma in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial row cropping with direct supervisory responsibilities.
• Proven expertise in managing center pivot and other irrigation systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to maintain and troubleshoot farm machinery, especially John Deere equipment.
• Competent in daily operational planning and agronomic record keeping.
• Skilled in operating all relevant farm machinery including tractors, planters, spray rigs, and combine harvesters.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Proactive, hands-on approach with the capacity to work independently under pressure.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the General Manager and the Board of Directors, ensuring alignment with Goldenlay’s strategic objectives.
