Position Overview: Crane Operator Role in Kalumbila

Reporting directly to the Supervisor – Lifting and Scaffolding, the Crane Operator will play a critical role in ensuring safe and efficient lifting operations across the Process Plant, TSF, and Crushers. You will be responsible for operating mobile cranes ranging from 80 to 300 tons, supporting maintenance activities, project requirements, and daily operational needs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Operating cranes in strict accordance with OEM specifications and site safety standards
• Performing pre-operational checks and routine equipment inspections to guarantee safety and functionality
• Collaborating closely with riggers, artisans, and maintenance teams during lifting operations
• Ensuring compliance with load limits, lift plans, and safety documentation such as FLRA and JSA
• Assisting in planning and executing complex and critical lifts
• Promptly reporting any equipment defects, hazards, or unsafe conditions
• Supporting general maintenance and housekeeping tasks when not engaged in crane operations
• Working effectively within a team and completing tasks with minimal supervision

Candidate Requirements for Crane Operator Jobs in Kalumbila

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Possession of a Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
• Valid Crane Operator Certificate from a recognised institution or equivalent qualification
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience operating cranes, preferably in mining or a similar heavy industry
• Strong ability to interpret load charts, lift plans, and follow detailed instructions accurately
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driving licence
• Additional permits for forklift and overhead crane operation are advantageous
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal
