Available Positions and Key Responsibilities

Assistant Farm Manager

The Assistant Farm Manager will play a vital role in supporting the effective management of research farms, ensuring smooth daily operations and strict adherence to research protocols.

  • Plan and supervise daily farm activities
  • Support the implementation of research trials and demonstrations
  • Monitor crop growth and manage farm inputs
  • Supervise farm staff to ensure task completion
  • Maintain accurate farm records and reports
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations

Research Assistant – Cotton Breeding

This role supports breeding programs focused on developing cotton varieties that are high-yielding, pest-resistant, and climate-resilient.

  • Assist with field and greenhouse breeding activities
  • Collect, record, and analyze breeding data
  • Support selection and evaluation of cotton germplasm
  • Maintain trial plots and breeding nurseries
  • Assist with data management and report preparation

Research Assistant – Agronomy

The Research Assistant (Agronomy) will contribute to agronomic research aimed at improving cotton production systems and best management practices.

  • Establish and monitor field trials
  • Collect data on plant growth, pest incidence, and yield
  • Support integrated pest management activities
  • Participate in farmer training and extension services
  • Assist in preparing research reports and documentation

Qualifications and Candidate Profile

Candidates applying for any of the cotton development trust jobs in Mazabuka must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science or a related discipline
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience
  • Mature, adaptable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision

All positions report directly to the Head of Research Department.
