About the Role: Construction Lead Jobs in Kalumbila

Reporting directly to the Project Manager – HIA and Process Plant, you will lead all SMP construction activities, ensuring the successful delivery of project scope with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. This role requires hands-on leadership, strategic planning, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams in a remote FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) working environment. You will collaborate closely with the EPCM provider to meet project objectives and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the Engineering Contractor Plan (ECP) for SMP construction effectively.
  • Develop and execute construction strategies aligned with project goals.
  • Lead and coordinate SMP construction activities across all project areas and interfaces.
  • Manage internal and external resources to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution.
  • Provide leadership to teams comprising supervisors, engineers, and contractors.
  • Maintain and update State of Work (SOW) and preconstruction documentation.
  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with contractors and vendors.
  • Address and resolve delays, risks, and disruptions promptly.
  • Oversee SMP construction from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with design, safety, and quality standards.
  • Manage pre-assemblies of steel structures and conduct QA/QC audits.
  • Review project schedules, deliverables, and cost estimates for alignment with targets.
  • Ensure adherence to building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Provide regular performance updates and progress reports to stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Structural, or related Engineering discipline.
  • At least 15 years of construction experience, with a strong focus on SMP projects.
  • Proven track record in the mining industry, including involvement in feasibility study (FS) stage projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills on large-scale projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Primavera P6 software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safe working practices and construction safety standards.
  • Capability to manage remote project delivery environments effectively.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
