This position plays a critical role in embedding responsible minerals compliance across site operations and the supply chain, ensuring policies, procedures, and controls are effective, auditable, and defensible.

Key Responsibilities for Compliance Specialist Jobs in Solwezi

  • Develop and maintain a robust responsible minerals compliance framework tailored to smelter operations.
  • Translate external standards such as RMI/RMAP and OECD Due Diligence Guidance into practical site controls.
  • Oversee compliance risks related to mineral sourcing, traceability, and supplier engagement.
  • Ensure all site documentation aligns with group policies and accreditation standards, maintaining audit readiness.
  • Lead supplier due diligence processes including KYC, risk classification, and mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate and manage third-party audits and assurance activities, maintaining continuous audit readiness.
  • Provide compliance guidance and training to internal teams including Supply Chain, Commercial, Operations, ESG, and Risk.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance compliance maturity and governance effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or an equivalent field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Membership with the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) or Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is preferred.
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant senior management experience or a combination of education and experience in compliance or related fields.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and interpret large data volumes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mining operations and up-to-date knowledge of Zambian laws and international best practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word, with excellent English communication skills.

  • Ability to implement responsible sourcing policies and manage supplier databases.
