About the Role – Commercial Officer Jobs in Kalumbila

Reporting directly to the Coordinator – Contracts and Local Procurement, the Commercial Officer will serve as the vital link between internal stakeholders and the Supply Chain team. You will lead efforts to ensure sourcing activities are efficient, compliant, and aligned with commercial objectives from the outset of the procurement lifecycle. Your expertise will help optimize supplier relationships, drive cost savings, and embed local content compliance within all commercial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary commercial liaison between end users and Supply Chain to accurately translate business requirements into sourcing strategies.
• Provide expert guidance on developing, reviewing, and refining Scopes of Work (SOW) to ensure clarity and competitiveness.
• Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify reliable, cost-effective suppliers and partners.
• Support supplier sourcing, evaluation, and selection processes in line with company policies and best practices.
• Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and strategic sourcing needs.
• Ensure compliance with local content regulations, governance frameworks, and statutory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency and transparency.
• Coordinate and administer activities within the Local Content Management System (LOCAS), including reporting and compliance monitoring.

Qualifications and Experience

• Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in commercial, procurement, or supply chain roles, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
• Membership with the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
• Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools such as SQL or Power BI.
• Sound understanding of procurement, warehousing, and distribution processes.
• Experience with ERP and integrated management systems like SAP or Oracle.
