About the Clinical Officer Role in Solwezi
As a Clinical Officer, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients and their families. You will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes, focusing particularly on managing non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, sickle cell disease, and malignancies. Maintaining adherence to international standards and clinical guidelines is essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care following MBHS, Zambia National, and WHO treatment guidelines.
- Schedule and manage patient follow-ups and investigations.
- Collaborate with clinicians to provide holistic patient management and consult when uncertain about clinical decisions.
- Adhere strictly to MBHS Medical Service Policies and the Patient’s Rights Charter.
- Ensure judicious use of pharmaceuticals, with particular attention to antimicrobial prescribing restrictions.
- Participate actively in monthly Clinical Governance meetings to review audits, incident reports, and clinical training.
- Support colleagues to enhance service efficiency and engage in ongoing professional development.
- Report clinical and administrative issues promptly to the Chief Medical Officer or Clinic Manager.
- Maintain professional conduct and exemplary customer service standards at all times.
- Comply with health and safety protocols and attend all relevant training sessions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Clinical General Sciences from a recognized institution.
- Registration and valid license with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years post-internship experience, preferably with exposure to Emergency Medicine.
- Proven experience in a senior clinical or administrative role within a hospital or clinic setting.
- Strong administrative skills and ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficient communication skills and computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Professional Standards and Conduct
Candidates must demonstrate integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness at all times. Adherence to the MBHS Uniform Policy and Code of Conduct is mandatory. Consumption of alcohol during duty hours is strictly prohibited and may result in dismissal. The successful candidate may be required to travel to other MBHS facilities as directed.
