Reporting directly to the Claims Manager, the Claims Officer will play a pivotal role in processing and managing insurance claims. The successful candidate will be responsible for controlling claims costs, ensuring compliance with company procedures, and delivering excellent customer service throughout the claims lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Register, process, and manage claims promptly following departmental procedures, including setting accurate initial reserves and maintaining detailed claim records.
• Maintain strict discipline regarding diarisation, reminders, deadlines, and action tracking, while effectively managing personal backlog and providing timely updates for review.
• Verify loss circumstances, confirm damages align with reported losses, validate claims, and support fraud detection efforts.
• Conduct inspections and assessments of motor and non-motor claims, determining when to engage loss adjusters, assessors, or other service providers.
• Collaborate with repairers and parts suppliers to ensure repair costs and turnaround times adhere to contractual agreements and minimize claims leakage.
• Secure salvages, prepare recovery documentation, and coordinate with relevant departments for recoveries, including subrogation and reinsurance processes.
• Promptly acknowledge claim notifications, provide regular updates to customers, resolve complaints, and escalate issues beyond authorized limits as necessary.
• Prepare claims files, payment documentation, and management reports while ensuring compliance with claims directives, service level agreements, underwriting terms, and operational requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field.
• Diploma qualification (ACII) is required.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in claims handling or a related insurance environment.
• Membership with the Insurance Institute of Zambia or a relevant professional insurance body is essential.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan daily or weekly tasks and meet targets efficiently.
