African Vision of Hope is currently seeking dedicated professionals for child safeguarding officer jobs in Kasama and other vital roles within our Student Life Department. These full-time positions are essential in advancing child welfare, protection, and holistic development across our various stations. Child Safeguarding Officer Position – Kasama
The role of Child Safeguarding Officer is pivotal in ensuring the safety and well-being of children under our care. This position requires conducting virtual home visits, assessing child safety, and developing tailored service plans in collaboration with children and their sponsors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct virtual home visits to engage with children and their guardians.
- Assess child safety, identify protection concerns, and evaluate needs across multiple life domains.
- Develop and monitor individualized service plans with children and sponsors.
- Provide crisis intervention and liaise with the National Office for further action when necessary.
- Build and maintain relationships with community service providers.
- Monitor behavioral changes and conditions affecting child safety.
- Apply a trauma-informed approach to support unaccompanied children recovering from trauma.
- Uphold a thorough understanding of the Children’s Bill of Rights and safeguarding principles.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in Vision files and databases.
- Submit timely reports and documentation.
- Travel up to 40% to meet children and families across various locations.
- Capture photographs and document children’s stories.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Development Studies, or related field.
- Training or experience in child safeguarding and protection is highly advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and communication skills.
- High integrity, maturity, and dedication to child welfare.
- Ability to work effectively with children, youth, and vulnerable populations.
Patron Role – Chongwe Station
The Patron will provide mentorship, guidance, and discipline to children in care, fostering a safe and supportive environment that promotes their development.
Responsibilities Include:
- Supervise daily routines, academic progress, and extracurricular activities.
- Ensure a nurturing and safe atmosphere for children.
- Collaborate closely with matrons, social workers, and management teams.
- Maintain discipline and enforce institutional policies.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 Certificate.
- Certificate or Diploma in Social Work, Education, Theology, or related fields is a plus.
- Experience working with children or in a boarding/residential setting preferred.
- Exemplary moral character, patience, and commitment to child development.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
