About the Chef Role – Chef Jobs in Livingstone

As a Chef, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences. You will work independently and collaboratively to ensure consistent, hygienic, and timely meal preparation in line with established menus and quality standards. Your creativity will contribute to menu development, reflecting guest preferences and ingredient availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present meals according to set menus and quality benchmarks.
• Assist in enhancing menus based on guest feedback and operational needs.
• Maintain consistency, hygiene, and timely service of all meals.
• Ensure excellent food presentation, taste, and portion control.
• Monitor kitchen inventory and assist with ordering and receiving supplies.
• Minimise food waste through proper storage and ingredient utilisation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen areas and equipment.
• Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Check ingredient freshness and quality prior to preparation.
• Coordinate meal preparation and service with lodge management and front-office teams.
• Assist with stocktaking, costing, portion control, and inventory management.
• Accommodate special dietary requirements and guest requests when feasible.
• Report any equipment issues, shortages, or food safety concerns to management promptly.
• Perform additional kitchen duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Certificate, Diploma, or recognised training in Culinary Arts, Food Production, Hospitality, Catering, or related fields is preferred.
• At least two years of relevant experience as a Chef, Cook, or in a professional kitchen environment is advantageous.
• Experience in a lodge, hotel, restaurant, catering company, or hospitality setting will be an asset.

• Strong culinary skills with a solid understanding of food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
• Ability to prepare a diverse range of local and international dishes.

• Attention to detail in food quality, presentation, and cleanliness.

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Knowledge of food costing, stock control, and menu planning is a plus.
