African Parks is seeking a dedicated and experienced Camp Manager to lead operations at Liuwa Camp, located within Liuwa Plain National Park in Kalabo, Western Zambia. About African Parks and the Role
African Parks is a non-profit conservation organization managing 24 protected areas across 13 African countries in partnership with governments and local communities. The Camp Manager will report directly to the Tourism Manager and be responsible for the overall performance, management, and smooth operation of Liuwa Camp. This includes delivering outstanding guest services, leading and motivating staff, ensuring financial accountability, and maintaining compliance with African Parks’ high standards.
Key Responsibilities for Camp Manager Jobs in Kalabo
- Camp Operations & Guest Experience: Oversee daily camp operations, guarantee exceptional guest satisfaction from arrival to departure, manage guest relations, and ensure high standards of cleanliness and service.
- Staff Management & Leadership: Lead and inspire camp staff across departments, allocate duties, monitor performance, enforce policies and safety standards, and foster a positive, values-driven team culture.
- Financial & Stock Control: Manage budgets, control costs, supervise procurement and inventory, implement measures to minimize waste and theft, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Maintenance & Logistics: Ensure upkeep of camp infrastructure, equipment, and vehicles; coordinate repairs and timely maintenance; and manage logistics for supplies and fuel.
- Health, Safety & Security: Safeguard guests, staff, and property by enforcing safety protocols, including night security measures, and responding effectively to emergencies.
- Environmental & Conservation Responsibility: Align camp operations with conservation guidelines, promote eco-friendly practices, respect wildlife and ecosystems, and support conservation messaging to guests.
- Reporting & Administration: Prepare operational reports, maintain documentation, liaise with park management and internal teams, and ensure adherence to organizational policies.
Candidate Profile and Minimum Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience managing a safari camp or similar hospitality environment, preferably in remote locations.
- Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Strong organizational and planning capabilities, with experience in financial management and stock control.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, initiative, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; computer literacy is essential.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Lozi is an advantage.
