Role Overview: Business Development Manager Jobs in Lusaka

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing PIB’s business objectives. This role encompasses leadership of business development strategies, operational oversight of claims and underwriting functions, and management of key client accounts to ensure departmental and organizational targets are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations Management: Develop and implement operational strategies; oversee claims and underwriting functions ensuring timely processing and closure of quotations and claims; generate weekly reports highlighting unit activities and issues.
• Business Development: Lead generation through to business closure; provide weekly pipeline updates; prepare and submit tenders; meet quarterly departmental targets.
• Key Account Management: Identify and maintain a portfolio of key accounts; develop and execute key account strategies; schedule client visits; prepare weekly reports on client engagement activities.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or related field.
• Professional insurance qualification such as CII, IIZA, or equivalent recognized certification.
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in insurance, business development, sales, underwriting, claims, or broking, including at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
• Proven track record in business development, lead generation, tender preparation, and sales pipeline management.
• Strong expertise in general insurance products, underwriting, claims management, and broking practices.
• Experience managing key accounts and corporate client relationships.
• Good knowledge of Zambian insurance regulations and industry standards.
• Membership in IIZA is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and insurance management or CRM software.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, networking, and report-writing skills.
