Key Responsibilities for Border Trade Manager Jobs in Lusaka

  • Identify, prospect, and onboard new customers within targeted cross-border markets to build a sustainable sales pipeline.
  • Drive increased customer traffic, sales volumes, and repeat purchases at Yalelo border stores.
  • Develop strong relationships with wholesalers, distributors, retailers, traders, HORECA operators, and institutional clients.
  • Conduct regular market and customer visits to uncover new business opportunities and strengthen existing partnerships.
  • Grow larger-volume customers capable of becoming structured export, wholesale, or distribution accounts.
  • Achieve monthly sales volume, revenue, customer acquisition, and market development targets.
  • Prepare sales forecasts and market plans, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Gather and report market intelligence on competitor pricing, product availability, customer preferences, and emerging trends.
  • Collaborate closely with border-store teams, Sales Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, and Marketing to ensure product availability and customer fulfillment.
  • Operate within approved pricing, margin, payment, credit, and commercial guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, sales forecasts, and activity reports, submitting information within agreed timelines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in sales, business development, territory management, key account management, or similar commercial roles.
  • Experience in FMCG, food, agriculture, wholesale, distribution, or cross-border trade is advantageous.
  • Proven track record in developing new markets, acquiring customers, and meeting sales targets.
  • Strong understanding of sales planning, customer development, and commercial negotiations.
  • Knowledge of cross-border trade and regional market dynamics is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and relevant sales reporting tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional Zambian or regional languages are beneficial.
  • Valid driver’s licence is required.
