About the Role: Book Keeper Jobs in Lusaka

The primary purpose of this role is to maintain precise financial records, process transactions, reconcile accounts, and support the company’s financial operations in line with internal policies and statutory regulations. You will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial data and facilitating smooth financial workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record daily financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
  • Maintain general ledgers, journals, and cashbooks with up-to-date information.
  • File and securely store financial documents and records.
  • Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Prepare and issue invoices to customers and monitor accounts receivable.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments and reconcile supplier statements and customer accounts.
  • Perform bank reconciliations on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Monitor cash flow and manage petty cash transactions efficiently.
  • Prepare cash flow reports as required by management.
  • Assist with payroll preparation, ensuring accurate salary payments, statutory deductions, and employee benefits.
  • Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare monthly financial summaries and assist in the preparation of management accounts.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities to aid financial planning.
  • Provide timely financial information to management upon request.
  • Assist with documentation for internal and external audits and maintain proper filing systems.
  • Support procurement and inventory record management as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Grade 12 Certificate with at least five ‘O’ levels, including credits in Mathematics and English.
  • Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of practical experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles.

Skills and Attributes

  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in financial record-keeping.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information responsibly.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills to interpret financial data effectively.
