The successful candidate will provide proficient and safe phlebotomy services while demonstrating thorough knowledge of cold chain management, quality control, infection prevention, and microbiological techniques. Key Responsibilities

• Assist patients and clients to the blood collection area with care and professionalism.
• Prepare and maintain all phlebotomy equipment, ensuring readiness for immediate use.
• Collect blood samples accurately, label specimens correctly with patient details, and dispatch for laboratory analysis.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and services to meet rigorous quality and safety standards.
• Implement and monitor Quality Management Systems, including internal and external quality controls.
• Deliver phlebotomy services using sterile technique, adhering strictly to infection control policies.
• Protect patient confidentiality and maintain accurate clinical records and registers.
• Handle and store chemicals and reagents safely, observing cold chain regulations and expiry monitoring.
• Participate in staff training and act as a technical resource for colleagues and health professionals.
• Report hazards or equipment faults promptly to laboratory leadership.
• Comply fully with national legal regulations and MBHS safety protocols.

Qualifications and Professional Requirements

• Diploma in Biomedical Sciences from a recognized institution.
• Current registration and valid practice license with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
• Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory procedures including phlebotomy, quality control, and microbiological techniques.
• Commitment to maintaining clinical knowledge and continuous professional development.
