Key Responsibilities for Assistant Feedlot Manager Jobs in Mumbwa

• Manage the full cycle of feedlot and backgrounding operations, including receiving, induction, care, production, and timely dispersal of finished cattle within 90 days to clients.
• Maintain organized and accurate records related to cattle and feedlot backgrounding activities for easy access by management.
• Handle all administrative functions for the feedlot section, ensuring compliance with company record-keeping standards.
• Implement and oversee timely feeding schedules, vaccinations, and deworming protocols for all new stock entrants.
• Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly reports detailing activities and incidents to the relevant authorities as directed.
• Ensure high standards of security and biosecurity are consistently maintained throughout the feedlot section.

Candidate Requirements

• Certificate or diploma in general agriculture or animal husbandry from a recognized Zambian institution; a degree in a related field is advantageous.
• Minimum of five years’ proven experience as a feedlot manager or assistant manager with comprehensive knowledge of feedlot and backgrounding operations.
• Proficiency in computer applications relevant to record keeping and reporting.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with the accounting department and assist with clerical duties to maintain accurate records.
• Strong skills in feedlot ration formulation.
• Familiarity with farm machinery operation, including tractors and feed mixer wagons.
• Possession of a valid rider’s licence.
• Solid understanding of cattle diseases and their management.
