Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Financial Accountant, the Assistant Accountant will play a critical role in managing daily financial transactions and supporting the preparation of accurate financial statements. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently within established financial procedures.
Key Responsibilities for Assistant Accountant Jobs in Lusaka
- Prepare daily cash flow reports by accurately recording all receipts and payments to support management decision-making.
- Deposit company funds daily following established banking procedures.
- Prepare cheques and online payments, submitting them for approval by senior management.
- Post receipts and payment vouchers to the cash book using Navision software to facilitate financial statement preparation.
- Maintain an organized filing system to ensure easy retrieval and reference of financial documents.
- Analyze ledger accounts for tax compliance and verify the accuracy of financial figures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Level 2 ZICA certification or a diploma in Finance.
- Minimum of two years’ relevant work experience in accounting or finance.
- Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is required.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical, numerical, and computational abilities.
- Ability to analyze simple data and apply basic formulas accurately.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
