Key Responsibilities for Assistant Accountant Fixed Assets Jobs in Lusaka

• Maintain an accurate and up-to-date fixed asset register in accordance with MTN Zambia accounting policies.
• Record asset acquisitions, disposals, impairments, and decommissioning costs promptly and accurately.
• Apply appropriate depreciation methods, rates, and residual values following IAS/IFRS standards.
• Monitor and report capital expenditure (CAPEX), ensuring correct classification and capitalization.
• Obtain and manage Capital Acceptance Certificates for qualifying capital expenses.
• Prepare monthly fixed asset reconciliations and assist with financial reporting processes.
• Deliver timely and accurate fixed asset reports for management, audits, and statutory requirements.
• Support internal and external audits by providing detailed asset schedules and documentation.
• Coordinate insurance coverage for company assets in collaboration with relevant departments.
• Identify opportunities to improve and automate fixed asset accounting processes.

Candidate Requirements

• Grade 12 certificate with at least 5 credits, including English and Mathematics.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a professional qualification such as ZICA, AAT, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years’ accounting experience, preferably in fixed assets or capital expenditure accounting.
• Working knowledge of IFRS/IAS and related accounting standards for fixed assets.
• Experience in telecommunications or a highly regulated industry is an advantage.
