Role Overview: Artisan Boilermaker Jobs in Solwezi

As an Artisan, Boilermaker at First Quantum Minerals, you will be responsible for welding, fabricating, and repairing boilers, tanks, pressure vessels, and other metal structures essential to mining operations. Your expertise will ensure the operational reliability and safety of our equipment while adhering to stringent quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures according to blueprints and specifications.
• Perform welding using Arc, MIG, and TIG techniques on materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and work orders to determine project scope and material requirements.
• Cut, shape, and form metal components using grinders, presses, shears, and other tools.
• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and correct any defects.
• Conduct routine maintenance and preventative checks on boilermaking equipment.
• Follow all company safety policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate closely with maintenance teams and supervisors to maintain efficient workflow.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment status.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Craft Certificate in Metal Fabrication, Boilermaking, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
• At least 5 years of practical experience as a Boilermaker, preferably within the mining sector.
• Proficiency in multiple welding processes including Arc, MIG, and TIG.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Strong knowledge of metal properties and fabrication techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
• Capable of working independently and effectively within a team.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and best practices.
• A valid driver’s license is advantageous.
