About AVSF and the Role

Agronomists and Veterinarians Without Borders (AVSF) is a non-profit organization recognized for its international solidarity work since 1977. AVSF promotes sustainable agricultural practices and supports rural communities across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Since 2022, AVSF has operated in Zambia, focusing on agroecology, human–wildlife coexistence, and biodiversity management. The organization recently launched the three-year Bush2Business project, funded by the French Development Agency, to develop non-timber forest value chains in the North Luangwa landscape, specifically in Mpika and Lavushimanda districts.

The Administration and Finance Officer will play a critical role in managing the financial, administrative, and human resource functions of AVSF’s operations in Zambia. Reporting to the Project Manager/Institutional Representative and collaborating closely with the Financial Desk Officer in France, the officer will ensure compliance with donor regulations and Zambian law while supporting project implementation.

Key Responsibilities for Administration and Finance Officer Jobs in Mpika

  • Financial and Accounting Management: Oversee all accounting transactions, prepare and verify monthly accounts, manage cash flow and banking operations, monitor and record partner financial reports, track project budgets, and ensure compliance with donor and AVSF financial procedures.
  • Human Resources Administration: Manage employment contracts and personnel files in accordance with Zambian labor laws, maintain legal registers, coordinate medical examinations and social insurance registrations, process payroll and payslips, and assist in developing HR policies including salary scales and training programs.
  • Administrative and Logistic Coordination: Supervise office logistics including venue management, procurement, supplier contracts, asset inventories, and insurance matters.
  • Audit and Budget Preparation: Prepare for audits, collaborate with auditors, and develop annual budgets and project budget proposals.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accountancy, Financial Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience managing administration and finance in an international NGO or similar organization.
  • Strong familiarity with international donor financial and procurement regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, autonomy, and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting field staff with accounting, financial planning, and reporting.
  • Proven expertise in human resources management compliant with local labor laws.
  • Detail-oriented with high ethical standards and professionalism.
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of French is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software.
  • Valid driving license.
