Role Overview for Accounts Assistant Jobs in Lusaka

The Accounts Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the Finance Department by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining comprehensive accounting records, assisting with reconciliations, and upholding financial controls and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
• Prepare customer invoices and monitor outstanding receivables.
• Record daily financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Perform bank, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with cash management, petty cash administration, and expense verification.
• Prepare statutory payment schedules and support tax compliance activities.
• Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and filing systems.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Assist with payroll-related reconciliations as required.
• Monitor budget expenditures and identify variances.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
• Perform other finance-related duties assigned by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Part qualification with ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, or CA Zambia is an advantage.
• Membership of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
• Minimum of two years’ practical accounting experience, preferably in logistics, freight forwarding, removals, transportation, or service-oriented sectors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Knowledge of Zambian tax legislation and statutory requirements.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and reconciliation skills.
