Position Overview: Accounts Assistant

As an Accounts Assistant at ABACUS360, you will play a crucial role in supporting the finance department by ensuring the accuracy and timely processing of financial transactions. Your responsibilities will include maintaining financial records, processing payments, and liaising with various stakeholders to uphold the company’s financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily finance-related communications and respond promptly to queries.
  • Ensure accuracy of payments, financial records, and documentation.
  • Maintain sales and purchase ledgers, journals, and spreadsheets.
  • Record and file cash transactions with precision.
  • Control credit and follow up on outstanding debts to optimize cash flow.
  • Process and file invoices, expense requests, and payment approvals efficiently.
  • Perform bank reconciliations to verify account balances and transactions.
  • Liaise with third-party providers, clients, and suppliers to facilitate smooth financial operations.
  • Update and maintain finance procedures and documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Manage petty cash and prepare bills and receipts accurately.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA Licentiate; a degree qualification is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, procedures, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets and formulas, and familiarity with accounting software.
  • Experience in recording transactions and managing accounts payable and receivable.
  • Ability to assist with general ledgers, balance sheets, and expense tracking.
  • Experience conducting bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems and local tax laws is desirable.
