Accounting Manager Jobs in Lusaka – Role Overview and Responsibilities

Accounting Manager (X01)

The successful candidate will oversee all accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial management and reporting in compliance with statutory and company standards.

• Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate transaction recording and reconciliation.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements aligned with accounting standards.
• Ensure compliance with taxation, regulatory filings, and financial reporting obligations.
• Provide timely financial insights and reports to support management decision-making.
• Manage supplier payments for raw materials such as soya, maize, and additives.
• Oversee customer invoicing, collections, credit terms, and outstanding receivables.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and online banking transactions, including payments and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure accurate inventory valuation and control production costs.
• Supervise payroll processing and ensure statutory deductions compliance (PAYE, NHIMA, NAPSA).
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and strengthen financial controls.
• Lead and develop the accounting team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience Required for Accounting Manager Jobs in Lusaka

• Full Grade Twelve School Certificate (GCE).
• Bachelor’s degree plus a full professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within manufacturing or production.
• Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
• Proficiency in IFRIS or similar ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and online banking platforms.
• Strong attention to detail, integrity, and adherence to professional ethics.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Results must be certified by ZAQA.

Additional Opportunities: Maintenance Manager and Accountant – Payables

Maintenance Manager (X01)

• Lead plant maintenance activities covering mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and utilities.
• Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
• Supervise and mentor the maintenance team, coordinate with production and procurement teams.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage contractors and third-party technicians.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in manufacturing, preferably with feed mill experience.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills; results certified by ZAQA.

Accountant – Payables (X01)

• Reconcile payables accounts weekly and verify supplier invoices.
• Track payments, investigate outstanding balances, and ensure timely processing within agreed terms.
• Maintain compliance with IAS/IFRS accounting standards and ensure proper documentation.
• Prepare month-end journals and Net Working Capital reports for senior management.
• Bachelor’s degree plus final or ongoing ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA qualification.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience and familiarity with Zambian tax regulations and feed production costs.
• Strong analytical skills, confidentiality, and ability to work independently; results certified by ZAQA.
