Key Responsibilities for the Accountant Role

The successful candidate will oversee the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with statutory requirements. This role involves leadership within the finance department and supports strategic financial planning. Core duties include:

• Preparing and presenting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Managing general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial controls
• Handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow management
• Ensuring compliance with Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) regulations
• Coordinating and supporting internal and external audits
• Developing and implementing financial policies and procedures
• Monitoring and controlling company expenses and budgets
• Providing financial analysis and reports to support management decision-making
• Ensuring timely and accurate tax returns and financial submissions
• Managing bank reconciliations and cash management processes
• Safeguarding company assets through robust financial controls
• Assisting management with financial forecasting and planning

Qualifications and Experience Required

Candidates for this accountant position should meet the following criteria:

• Degree or Diploma in Accounting
• Professional certification such as ACCA or ZICA is an advantage
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an accounting role
• Experience in manufacturing accounting is beneficial
• Strong understanding of financial regulations and statutory requirements
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Pastel, Sage, QuickBooks, Tally, or ERP systems
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
