Role Overview for Accountant Jobs in Lusaka

Reporting directly to the Federation Manager, the Accountant will oversee the agency’s financial management and compliance. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, and complying with statutory and donor requirements. The Accountant will provide timely financial insights to support effective program delivery and organizational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate accounting records, prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, perform bank reconciliations, and manage cash flow forecasts.
  • Compliance & Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with statutory obligations such as NAPSA and PAYE, enforce financial policies and donor guidelines, and support audit processes.
  • Budgeting & Financial Analysis: Assist in budget preparation and monitoring, conduct variance analysis, and provide financial insights to management.
  • Payments & Financial Operations: Process payments and staff advances, maintain financial documentation, and manage organizational assets and liabilities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Part-qualified or fully qualified ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent, with valid membership to the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
  • At least three years of relevant experience in financial accounting and controls.
  • Experience in NGO or donor-funded environments is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and payroll systems such as Dove Payroll.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
