Role Overview: Accountant Jobs in Kitwe

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full financial function of the Zambia entity, managing processes from routine accounting tasks to detailed reporting and analysis. This position requires precision in monthly accounting close procedures, including journal entries, cashbook capturing, invoice allocation, reconciliations, and timely reporting.

Key duties include maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, submitting statutory returns such as VAT and PAYE, managing foreign currency transactions, and supporting audit preparations. The role also involves administering ad-hoc projects, assisting the Finance Lead with daily operations, and maintaining banking relationships, including opening accounts and managing finance facilities.

Key Responsibilities for Accountant Jobs in Kitwe

• Assist with monthly management accounts, forecasts, and budgeting processes.
• Complete monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables by designated deadlines.
• Maintain accurate Fixed Asset Register and perform cashbook capturing.
• Capture and allocate invoices efficiently and accurately.
• Prepare and submit statutory returns including VAT and PAYE.
• Identify and report any internal control weaknesses.
• Manage foreign currency transactions and support external audit preparations.
• Lead banking maintenance activities such as opening bank accounts and managing vehicle finance.
• Manage cashflow through weekly cash forecasts and monthly accounts receivable reports to Treasury.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ZICA Licentiate, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent recognized in Zambia.
• Current membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
• Minimum of five years proven experience as an Accountant in a reputable organization.
