Position Overview for Cross Border Truck Drivers Jobs in Lusaka

The primary responsibility of the cross border truck driver is to ensure the safe and punctual transport of cargo and personnel along authorized SADC routes. This position demands strict adherence to company policies, legal regulations, and safety procedures, requiring vigilance and professionalism at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate company vehicles safely, complying with traffic laws, road conditions, and approved route plans to meet delivery schedules.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, roadworthiness, and documentation; coordinate routine inspections and scheduled maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Load, offload, and secure cargo using approved methods, ensuring correct weight distribution, seal integrity, and continuous protection.
• Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections; report and escalate any defects, incidents, or irregularities promptly according to procedure.
• Monitor fuel consumption, tire condition, and overall vehicle performance; document anomalies and initiate corrective measures.
• Accurately manage documentation including trip logs, waybills, permits, customs and immigration papers, fuel and toll records, and tracking system updates.
• Adhere to crime prevention, health and safety protocols, and personal protective equipment requirements, fostering a zero-harm work culture.
• Follow proper handover, tracking, and damage reporting procedures to protect company and client assets.
• Drive strictly within authorized hours and routes; secure approval for night driving and comply with fatigue management policies.
• Maintain professional conduct representing Vintage Human Capital Services Limited and its clients; assist in mentoring new drivers when requested.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Valid driver’s license for the assigned vehicle category (Class C or CE preferred) and Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) categories D or G.
• Valid passport compliant with transport and border regulations.
• At least three years of proven experience in cross border truck or cargo driving.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, security, and compliance with an incident-free record.
• Ability to work independently while following directions from the Fleet Manager or Project Controller.
• Clear communication skills and accurate record-keeping, including basic competence with Transport Management Systems (TMS).
• Physical fitness to endure extended driving hours as required.
• Current Defensive Driving and Dangerous Goods certifications for cross-border operations.
