Build It International (BII) is a respected youth-focused development organisation established in 2006, dedicated to transforming young people’s lives in Zambia through skills training and employment opportunities in the construction sector. The organisation operates three core programmes: the Training into Work programme offering technical and life skills training; Community Projects constructing vital infrastructure while integrating youth training; and Advocacy to promote equity and collaboration within the vocational training sector.
Role Summary for Head of Training Jobs in Chibombo
Reporting to the Country Director, the Head of Training will provide strategic leadership and operational management for all training initiatives under the TiW Department. The role encompasses curriculum development, staff performance management, and programme delivery across diverse training modalities including in-centre, mobile, and community-based settings. The successful candidate will maintain strong partnerships with regulatory bodies such as TEVETA, government agencies, and industry stakeholders to ensure programme quality and relevance.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the department’s strategic vision aligned with organisational goals and national labour market needs.
- Curriculum & Programme Oversight: Lead design and continuous improvement of competency-based curricula compliant with TEVETA frameworks.
- Staff Development: Recruit, mentor, and manage training staff, fostering a culture of professionalism and continuous learning.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to accreditation standards and lead quality assurance and internal verification processes.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Oversee systems tracking trainee progress and programme impact, collaborating with research teams to inform improvements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strategic partnerships with government, industry, NGOs, and communities to enhance programme reach and sustainability.
- Budget & Resource Management: Manage departmental budgets and resources to optimise programme delivery.
- Health, Safety & Safeguarding: Promote safe learning environments and implement safeguarding policies across all training activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, TVET, Engineering, Construction, Community Development, Social Sciences, or related field (Master’s degree desirable).
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in training management or skills development, including at least 3 years in senior management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of TEVETA frameworks, competency-based training methods, and quality assurance systems.
- Proven expertise in curriculum development, accreditation, and managing multi-stakeholder projects and teams.
- Certification in vocational training delivery or adult education and experience with donor-funded programmes are advantageous.
