Position Overview: Human Resource Officer Jobs in Lusaka

As a Human Resource Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing recruitment, onboarding, payroll processing, and statutory compliance. Acting as a liaison between management and staff, you will help maintain a productive and compliant workplace by enforcing company policies and adhering to Zambian labor laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage the full hiring cycle, including drafting job descriptions, advertising vacancies, conducting interviews, and facilitating new employee orientation.
  • Employee Relations: Address staff grievances, mediate conflicts, and administer disciplinary procedures with fairness and transparency.
  • Payroll & Benefits Administration: Process monthly payroll, monitor attendance, and manage employee benefits such as medical insurance and pension schemes.
  • Performance Management: Coordinate performance appraisals, monitor probation periods, and identify training and development needs.
  • Compliance & Record Keeping: Ensure adherence to Zambian labor laws including the Employment Act 2019 and OSHA 2025, while maintaining accurate employee records.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related fields.
  • Certification: Membership in the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM) is highly preferred and often required for career advancement.
  • Experience: 1 to 2 years of proven experience in human resources or administrative roles.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office applications.

Understanding Local Labor Law

A thorough knowledge of the Employment Act, 2019 is essential for this role. The HR Officer will ensure all employee contracts, leave entitlements, and termination procedures comply with statutory requirements. Responsibilities also include managing statutory deductions such as NAPSA, NHIMA, and Personal Levy.
