About the Reliability Engineer Role in Kalumbila
Reporting to the Reliability Coordinator, you will ensure that equipment, systems, and processes operate safely, reliably, and efficiently throughout their lifecycle. Your work will involve proactive risk identification, data analysis, failure investigation, and implementation of improvements to minimize downtime. This role plays a critical part in enhancing performance, maintaining safety and quality standards, lowering lifecycle costs, and supporting continuous improvement through data-driven maintenance and reliability strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify recurring failures and “bad actors,” developing engineering solutions to mitigate these issues.
- Develop and review asset maintenance strategies using Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Preventive Maintenance Optimization (PMO), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Collect and analyze data using tools such as Power BI, SQL, Smart Fleet, and Vision Link.
- Create Power BI reports to monitor equipment KPIs including MTBF, MTTR, availability, work order compliance, and maintenance costs.
- Prepare failure reports and ensure corrective actions are implemented to prevent repeat failures.
- Monitor asset condition via vibration analysis, ultrasound, non-destructive testing (NDT), thermography, and oil analysis to predict failures and guide maintenance decisions.
- Develop Life Cycle Cost models to optimize costs and support repair versus replacement decisions.
- Improve equipment reliability through condition and integrity reviews, equipment strategy validation, root cause analysis, and technical support.
- Manage reliability processes including defect elimination, lubrication, condition monitoring, and quality assurance/control.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and maintain document control systems for drawings and equipment manuals.
- Analyze oil analysis results to assess oil and asset health, generating reports to recommend maintenance actions.
- Collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to adopt technologies and practices that enhance asset reliability.
Candidate Requirements for Reliability Engineer Jobs in Kalumbila
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in mining or a similar industrial environment.
- Certifications such as ARP or CMRP are advantageous.
- Condition monitoring certification is a plus.
- Solid understanding of reliability principles including RCM, FMEA, and defect elimination.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI.
- Experience with CMMS systems such as SAP, Pronto, or equivalents.
- Membership in the Engineering Institution of Zambia.
- Possession of a valid Zambian driver’s license is an added advantage.
