Role Overview for Debt Collector Jobs in Lusaka

Reporting directly to the Credit Controller, the Debt Collector will be responsible for managing overdue accounts, negotiating payment plans with clients, and maintaining accurate records of all collection activities. This role supports Magnum Security’s cash flow objectives by ensuring debts are recovered efficiently and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively follow up on overdue accounts via phone, email, and physical visits when necessary.
• Collect outstanding debts in accordance with company credit policies and procedures.
• Maintain detailed and up-to-date records of all communication and collection efforts.
• Prepare regular debt collection reports for management review, including daily, weekly, and monthly summaries.
• Reconcile customer accounts and resolve any payment discrepancies promptly.
• Engage clients professionally to negotiate payment arrangements and recovery plans.
• Escalate unresolved or long-outstanding debts to management for further action.
• Collaborate closely with the Finance Department to monitor debtor balances and payment trends.
• Handle all company and client information with strict confidentiality and professionalism.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management within the scope of the role.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Grade 12 Certificate with at least five ‘O’ levels, including credit or better in Mathematics and English.
• A Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is advantageous.
• Previous experience in debt collection, customer service, or a related area is highly desirable.
