WASH Sales and Market Development Officer Positions in Monze Kalomo

iDE Zambia is seeking two dynamic professionals for the role of WASH Sales and Market Development Officer to support the pilot phase of its Market-Based Sanitation (MBS) programme in Southern Province. These wash sales jobs in Monze Kalomo focus on establishing a sustainable supply of the improved ‘Bulondo Bulondo’ latrine solution, promoting Toilet Business Owners as key service providers, and developing a network of artisans and sales agents. The positions are contract-based for nine months and offer an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to sanitation improvements in rural Zambia.

About the Role – Wash Sales Jobs in Monze Kalomo

Reporting to the WASH Sales Manager, the WASH Sales and Market Development Officers will lead efforts to build the technical, business, and marketing capabilities of Local Business Owners (LBOs). You will coach sales agents and artisans to ensure quality and timely delivery of latrine solutions, while stimulating demand among households and institutional buyers. The role demands operational excellence with experience in startup promotion, product delivery systems, demand management, and partnership development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the successful delivery of the MBS pilot by executing project activities on time and meeting objectives.
  • Mentor Local Business Owners in entrepreneurship and improve their business models by managing supplier and agent relationships.
  • Coach sales agents to effectively promote latrine solutions to target customers.
  • Build capacity and manage masons operating within the districts.
  • Participate in testing and refining sanitation financing models.
  • Integrate Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles into programming.
  • Ensure achievement of sales targets and order fulfillment.
  • Develop strong relationships with WASH stakeholders and represent iDE Zambia at sector meetings.
  • Collaborate with consortium partners to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Work with Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning teams to track project progress and document insights for scaling.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Professional qualification or a 3-year diploma in Marketing, Sales, Business Studies, or a related field. Degrees in Engineering, Water Resource Management, Sanitation, or Public Health considered with relevant sales/marketing experience.
  • At least three years of proven experience leading sales or marketing initiatives with measurable results.
  • Experience supporting small business startups in rural areas is preferred.
  • Familiarity with market-based approaches through NGO or commercial programs.
  • Strong knowledge of WASH programming, especially sanitation and hygiene, is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies

  • Enthusiastic team player capable of motivating and coaching sales and marketing agents.
  • Effective communicator with diverse stakeholders including communities, artisans, and government officials.
  • Ability to travel frequently to project sites, with a valid rider’s license and willingness to use a motorbike for field travel.
  • Sensitivity to rural contexts and experience working with women, youth, and ethnic groups.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, able to balance multiple responsibilities.
  • Resilience and creativity in managing challenges and working in uncertain environments.
