Key Responsibilities for Accountant Jobs in Lusaka

The successful candidate will coordinate and supervise critical financial functions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. Core duties include:

• Managing payroll inputs to facilitate prompt payment of salaries and allowances.
• Overseeing the accurate maintenance of books of accounts for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Supervising receipting and ensuring timely banking of revenue collections to safeguard public funds.
• Coordinating preparation of responses to audit queries to support informed decision-making.
• Preparing monthly expenditure statements to monitor spending levels effectively.
• Maintaining registers of damages and losses to support recovery of government funds and property.
• Ensuring timely recoveries of loans and advances to facilitate repayments.
• Overseeing preparation of financial reports to aid strategic management decisions.
• Developing individual and departmental work plans to monitor and evaluate performance.
• Supervising human, financial, and material resources within the Accounts Department to achieve set objectives.

Additional duties include auditing support, import clearance, financial guidance, banding, and handling investment permit issues.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Grade 12 Certificate is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, ACCA, ZIMA, or an equivalent qualification.
• Master’s degree is an added advantage.
• ACCA accreditation is essential.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to write comprehensive reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
• Trustworthy, honest, and able to conduct import clearance and assist in auditing processes.
