About the Role – Administration Officer Education Jobs Lusaka

As an Administration Officer: Education, you will manage and oversee key administrative functions related to the Ireland-African Fellowship Programme. Your responsibilities will include coordinating programme communications, managing applications and alumni records, and organising events and logistics. You will also support future Embassy education initiatives and provide administrative assistance across broader Embassy activities.

  • Administer all aspects of the Ireland-African Fellowship Programme, ensuring compliance with the annual timeline and supporting public communications and events.
  • Maintain and engage with the alumni network, facilitating collaboration and supporting strategic Embassy initiatives.
  • Assist with upcoming education projects, including communications and event management.
  • Develop strong relationships with key education stakeholders in both Zambia and Ireland.
  • Provide wider administrative support, including financial processing and event coordination.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications and skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • At least three years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or information management.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and teamwork abilities.
  • Proven organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgment and the ability to present clear conclusions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Permanent legal right to reside and work in Zambia.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Understanding of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ role and international relations; experience in diplomatic missions or international organisations is advantageous.
  • Additional qualifications in relevant fields or further third-level education.
  • Competence with communications tools including print, broadcast media, social media, and event management.
  • Experience or qualifications in database management, project management, graphic design, social media content creation, or archival work.

Terms and Conditions

Employment Type Full Time, Permanent Contract
Location Embassy of Ireland, Lusaka, Zambia
Working Hours Monday to Friday, 48 hours per week
Annual Leave 24 days per annum
Salary €17,334.38 gross annually (inclusive of housing and allowances), paid monthly in Kwacha equivalent; non-negotiable
Benefits 15% pension contribution, NAPSA, medical insurance, PAYE tax deducted at source
Probation Period Three months, with possible three-month extension
