Position Overview: Fleet/Operations Supervisor

The Fleet/Operations Supervisor will be responsible for managing daily fleet operations and ensuring efficient transport logistics across routes into and out of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Tanzania. This role demands hands-on supervision of drivers and operational personnel to guarantee compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Supervise and coordinate daily transport and fleet activities, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Monitor truck movements of dry cargo across DRC and Tanzania borders, overseeing dispatch, delivery schedules, and turnaround times.
  • Manage and support drivers, driver assistants, and other operational staff to maintain high performance.
  • Verify that all trucks possess valid and necessary documentation before departure.
  • Track driver attendance, discipline, and adherence to company policies.
  • Collaborate with Fleet Managers to address truck availability, maintenance, and breakdowns.
  • Oversee fuel consumption, trip expenses, and driver funds to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate completion and submission of trip documents, including Proof of Delivery (PODs), vouchers, and reports.
  • Resolve operational challenges promptly with effective solutions.
  • Maintain clear communication channels with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Enforce compliance with company SOPs, safety protocols, and transport regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience as a fleet officer, supervisor, or manager.
  • Proven expertise with fleet routes involving DRC, Zambia, and Tanzania, including knowledge of documentation, border clearances, toll fees, and regulatory procedures.
  • Hands-on experience managing cross-border fleet transportation and supervising operational teams.

Additional Requirements

  • Residency in Ndola, Kitwe, or elsewhere in the Copperbelt region.
  • Membership with the Zambia Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (ZCILT) is advantageous.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, and coordination capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making aptitude.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • High integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • Capability to motivate and manage a team successfully.
