Position Overview: Finance Manager

The Finance Manager will lead the financial management function at WWF Zambia, serving as a strategic partner to senior leadership, including the Operations Director and Country Director. This contract role is based in Lusaka and is central to ensuring the organisation’s financial sustainability through effective budgeting, forecasting, reporting, treasury and grants management, risk mitigation, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities for Finance Manager Jobs in Lusaka

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with WWF Zambia’s Country and Operational Strategic Plans. Provide strategic advice to leadership on resource allocation and organisational performance.
  • Financial Planning & Budgeting: Lead annual budgeting, multi-year financial planning, and quarterly forecasting processes. Ensure integration of programme and project budgets with organisational priorities.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare timely internal, donor, and network financial reports. Deliver management accounts and dashboards to support informed decision-making.
  • Grants Management & Donor Compliance: Oversee financial aspects of donor-funded projects, ensuring adherence to donor regulations and WWF policies. Support audits, reporting, and grant reconciliations.
  • Internal Controls & Risk Management: Maintain robust controls, ensure compliance with statutory and donor requirements, and lead fraud prevention efforts.
  • Treasury & Cash Flow Management: Manage liquidity, banking relationships, payments, and foreign exchange exposure to safeguard organisational financial health.
  • Audit & Continuous Improvement: Coordinate audits and implement recommendations to enhance financial systems and accountability.
  • People Leadership: Mentor and develop finance staff, promote teamwork, and build capacity among budget holders and programme managers.
  • Resource Mobilisation Support: Assist in proposal development and financial due diligence for funding opportunities and partnerships.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CA Zambia, or equivalent.
  • Membership of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including a minimum of 5 years in senior finance leadership roles.
  • Proven expertise managing complex donor-funded programmes and grants.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning, reporting, compliance, and risk management.
  • Experience within international NGOs or development organisations is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with donor regulations from EU, USAID, FCDO, GCF, GEF, KfW, SIDA, and others.
  • Proficiency with enterprise financial systems and business intelligence tools.
