About the Role: Ground Operations Supervisor Jobs in Lusaka

As a Ground Operations Supervisor at DHL, you will be responsible for supervising Operations SVC shifts, ensuring inbound and outbound materials are managed according to network standards. You will play a key role in enforcing compliance with GIMS and Global SOP procedures, while maintaining safety and security protocols aligned with civil aviation and airport regulations.

Your leadership will drive operational excellence by managing road operations between stations and gateways, monitoring schedules, and ensuring timely updates to the NMIV system within 15 minutes of arrivals or departures. You will also develop contingency plans for routes to guarantee minimum service levels during emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise road operations from stations to gateways and vice versa, ensuring adherence to network and station schedules.
• Update NMIV records promptly within 15 minutes of arrival or departure.
• Develop and implement contingency plans for current and future routes to maintain service continuity during emergencies.
• Identify, communicate, evaluate, prioritize, and manage operational risks, keeping management and security informed.
• Provide exceptional leadership through appraisals, one-on-one meetings, and coaching to motivate and develop the team.
• Oversee inbound and outbound sorting and bagging for domestic and international shipments, ensuring compliance with safety and security regulations.
• Ensure no prohibited or restricted goods are transported without prior authorization.
• Verify courier collections using the appropriate debriefing systems upon their return.
• Accurately capture handling unit IDs and checkpoint data, making information available to the network in a timely manner.
• Ensure all inbound shipments are scanned and processed according to checkpoint business reference guidelines.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar supervisory role within logistics or operations.
• Proven track record in risk management and driving performance through structured frameworks.
• Strong experience in managing teams and serving both internal and external customers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Operational knowledge of DHL’s Operations Scorecard, Global SOP, and OHASA standards.
• Good knowledge of DHL operational systems.
• Valid Class C driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience.
