Key Responsibilities for Internal Audit Officer Jobs in Lusaka

• Develop and execute a detailed audit program aligned with the annual audit plan.
• Provide weekly progress updates on audit activities.
• Conduct spot checks on high-risk operational areas to verify implementation of internal controls.
• Investigate incidents of fraud, theft, or misappropriation uncovered during audits.
• Perform quarterly reviews of selected processes and transactions using continuous auditing methodologies.
• Carry out monthly self-assessments to ensure audit quality in accordance with the internal audit manual.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports detailing findings, conclusions, and recommendations within agreed deadlines.
• Follow up regularly on the implementation status of audit recommendations and report accordingly.
• Compile monthly summaries of audit work for review by the Internal Audit Manager.
• Undertake additional assignments as delegated by the Internal Audit Manager.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Full Grade 12 certificate.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, or CA Zambia (ZICA).
• Minimum of two years’ experience in audit or internal controls environments.
• Membership with the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) is mandatory.
• Proficiency in computer literacy, including accounting software such as Pastel Evolution, and familiarity with controls review or CAAT software.
