About the Role: Supply Chain Specialist Jobs in Lusaka

The successful candidate will oversee project supply management, including reviewing contract supply terms and planning shipments in alignment with customer orders and payment schedules. You will manage logistics operations such as transportation and customs clearance, ensuring smooth order fulfillment. A critical aspect of this role involves working with Zambia customs policies and regulations, including HS code classification, and fostering strong relationships with government institutions. You will also be responsible for managing Huawei’s logistics service providers (LSP), handling purchase order issuance, acceptance, and payments to maintain expense security and compliance with documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and manage contract supply terms and shipment planning according to customer orders and payment plans.
  • Coordinate logistics operations including transportation and customs clearance activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Zambia customs regulations and HS codes to support import clearance for Huawei and customers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relations with government agencies involved in customs and logistics.
  • Oversee Huawei Zambia’s daily logistics services, including purchase order processing and payment verification.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and proper documentation for all logistics expenses.

Required Knowledge and Expertise

  • Solid understanding of international trade and transportation modes (express, air, sea, land) and their business processes.
  • Familiarity with customs clearance procedures for imports and exports, insurance, claims, and operational red lines in transportation.
  • Experience managing logistics service providers (LSP) including booking, vehicle scheduling, documentation, and tracking.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of logistics functions such as transportation, warehousing, procurement fulfillment, and reverse logistics.
  • Understanding of order fulfillment, finance, and project management principles related to logistics.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in logistics engineering analysis tools and methods such as logistics planning (PCB, ABC) and lean improvement techniques.
  • Strong data analysis skills with familiarity in data processing tools like POWER BI or Python; knowledge in data mining, statistics, and data governance is advantageous.
  • Ability to ensure efficient business fulfillment by identifying and resolving operational issues systematically.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with logistics providers and internal teams, guiding improvements and addressing service quality concerns.
  • Problem-solving aptitude to detect operational risks and implement preventive measures proactively.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a full-time program.
  • Minimum of one year’s experience in logistics or related fields.
