As a Finance Operations Officer at eShandi, you will be instrumental in managing daily financial operations, including reconciliations, accounting, management reporting, and operational finance processes. You will ensure all financial transactions are recorded precisely and support improvements in financial controls and compliance. This role suits an ambitious finance professional with a solid foundation in accounting and a keen interest in fintech.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Operations: Process daily transactions, maintain accounting records, prepare journals and month-end adjustments, and support financial close processes.
• Reconciliations: Conduct reconciliations of bank accounts, mobile money wallets, payment gateways, settlement accounts, loan accounts, suspense accounts, and general ledger control accounts; promptly resolve discrepancies and monitor settlements.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, assist with IFRS-compliant financial statements, generate performance reports, and support budgeting and forecasting.
• Lending & Payment Operations: Reconcile loan disbursements and repayments, monitor multi-channel payment settlements, verify interest and fees, and assist with revenue reconciliation.
• Internal Controls & Compliance: Maintain financial controls, assist audits, prepare audit documentation, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Process Improvement: Identify automation opportunities, recommend enhancements to reconciliation and reporting, implement finance systems, and collaborate across teams to optimize workflows.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Up to 2 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, banking, fintech, or financial services.
• Proven experience in financial accounting, management accounting, or reconciliations.
• Experience in fintech, digital lending, banking, or payment services is advantageous.
• Professional qualifications such as ZICA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalents are desirable.

Technical and Behavioural Competencies

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.
• Proficiency in financial reporting, management accounting, and bank/payment reconciliations.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and SUMIFS.
• Experience with accounting software or ERP systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo).
• Understanding of digital payment ecosystems and fintech operations is a plus.
• Familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI is desirable.
• High attention to detail, analytical mindset, integrity, and professionalism.
• Excellent organisational, time management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure.
• Proactive attitude towards continuous improvement and technology adoption.
