Role Overview for Site Engineer Jobs in Zambia

As a Site Engineer/Agent, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and executing various civil works, including heavy-duty access roads, deep foundations, and plant bases. Your expertise will ensure that all site operations meet design specifications and quality standards, while maintaining effective communication with project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting Out & Surveying: Conduct precise setting out for roads, drainage systems, building platforms, and structural foundations using total stations and levels. Adhere strictly to design levels and gradients.
• Technical Compliance: Interpret structural and civil drawings, including reinforcement details and formwork plans, ensuring all works conform to specified standards such as concrete grades and reinforcement spacing.
• Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Perform inspections and testing, supervise compaction tests for road sub-grades, and verify that concrete mixes are correctly designed and applied.
• Material Control: Manage material requisitions including aggregates, cement, reinforcement steel, and pipes. Verify quantities against the Bill of Quantities to minimize waste.
• Documentation: Maintain daily diaries, progress reports, and as-built drawings. Coordinate regularly with the Project Manager to report progress and identify potential variations.
• Subcontractor Liaison: Oversee subcontractors engaged in specialized tasks such as borehole drilling and structural works, ensuring their activities integrate smoothly with the overall project schedule.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably on projects involving roadworks, drainage, and heavy concrete structures.
• Proficiency with surveying instruments and CAD software is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of concrete technology and soil mechanics.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
