Key Responsibilities for Yard Marshall Jobs in Chingola

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of truck traffic and yard operations, including:

• Yard Traffic Management: Direct and control truck movements at entry and exit points, manage gate operations with accurate recording of arrivals and departures, and ensure smooth traffic flow to prevent congestion.
• Yard Planning and Allocation: Allocate parking bays strategically for trucks ready for dispatch, awaiting drivers, documentation clearance, workshop attention, inspections, or loading/offloading, while maintaining an updated yard layout and vehicle tracking system.
• Fleet Coordination: Collaborate with dispatch, operations, workshop, and driver management teams to optimize fleet utilization, verify truck readiness and documentation, monitor vehicle availability, and support scheduling and deployment activities.
• Driver Management: Coordinate driver arrivals and departures, verify assignments, enforce yard rules, and report any misconduct or unsafe practices in compliance with company policies.
• Workshop & Maintenance Coordination: Liaise with workshop personnel on trucks requiring attention, prioritize movements, ensure safe isolation of defective vehicles, and assist with preventive maintenance planning.
• Compliance and Reporting: Maintain daily truck movement logs, prepare yard utilization reports, submit fleet status updates, and support operational audits and compliance inspections.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants for this role should meet the following criteria:

• Diploma or equivalent qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, Engineering, or related fields.
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role within fast-paced trucking organizations, fleet operations, yard management, or workshop coordination.
• Experience in driver supervision, training, or transport operations is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of fleet operations, logistics, and transport industry standards.
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
